Q. Does VAG-Check work on my vehicle?

A. VAG-Check works with most Volkswagen and Audi models from 1994 through 2007. It also works with most SEAT, and Skoda from 2000. We can't guarantee that you will connect all kind of ECUs in all kind of vehicles, but we have many good reports that says: YES it works!

Q. Does VAG-Check work on my PDA?

A. Yes & No! Version 2.0 supports any kind of PDA with serial port or Bluetooth port and 320x240 screen resolution, no limitation on processors type. VAG-Check 1.1.6 supports Intel processor ARM based PDA, and SH3 based PDA.

Q. Is there a list of PDA/Vehicles supported?

A. No! For 1.1.6 version we have many report from users, but we need the time to organize it and publish. Version 2.0 is enginered to be compatible with all type of PDA, also it implements an high reliable protocol that supports most type of vehicle ECU.

Q. Which does kind of interface work with VAG-Check?

A. For 1.1.6 version all optocoupler/MAX232 interface should works, but the only way to test it is try! Version 2.0 supports SmartVAG and BlueVAG proprietary interface!

Q. Can i use VAG-Check 2.0 with my optocoupler/Max232 based interface?

A. No! Version 2.0 supports ONLY SmartVAG and BlueVAG proprietary interface!

Q. How can i register VAG-Check?

A. You can register version 1.1.6 simply accessing registration page of this site. Version 2.0 is not registrable, simply buy SmartVAG and/or BlueVAG interface and activate it!

Q. I want to register but i can't because the registration ID and Key windows are grayed What can i do?

Q. The Registration screen displays the following message: "Name is wrong send file \wrongname to: support@arlab.it", how can i solve it?

A. It is a common problem, 1.x series registration system needs that you insert a valid Name (lenght not less than 5 chars) in Settings/Owner Information screen of your PDA.
If problem persist, please pick-up the file "wrongname" from root folder of your PDA and send it to support@arlab.it

Q. What are differences between version 1.1.6 and 2.0?

A. Version 2.0 is the latest version, it supports CAN-Bus diagnose protocol and works only with proprietary interface (SmartVAG and BlueVAG). Because of proprietary interface support it is more reliable and faster. It doesn't need registration, simply connect to your PDA and follow activation procedure. Version 1.1.6 is the past 2.0 is the future, all new features will be implemented in 2.0 series, and then (if possible) in version 1.1.6 .

Q. Will there be an upgrade program for 1.1 licensed users to 2.0?

A. Yes we are not ready, but we plan to do that!

Q. Will be realeased a PC version of VAG-Check?

A. No, we are not plan to develop a PC version of VAG-Check. In the market already exists good PC programs for vehicle diagnosis, VAG-Check completes that programs adding exceptional portability. VAG-Check is a good tool for sporadic users (like hobbist, and cars entustiast), and a bargain for techinician, that can use it out of their workshop.

Q. Does VAG-Check support Bluetooth Port?

A. Yes! Version 2.0 supports Bluetooth port communication (using BlueVAG interface).

Q. Does VAG-Check support USB Port?

A. No! Most PDA on the market supports USB only in Slave mode for PC synchronization, so connected device must contains embedded software that implements USB Master protocol... too expensive when we have a Bluetooth solution...

Q. Does VAG-Check can diagnose new CAN-Bus based Vehicles?

A. Yes! Version 2.0 supports new VAG CAN-Bus diagnosis protocol.

Q. Why doesn't ARlab sell interfaces?

A. ARlab is a Software House. We develop VAG-Check and interface firmware, if you are hardware manufacture and you want to produce VAG-Check compatible interface, please contact us at info@arlab.it.
